This collotype portfolio features works created using the 19th-century photographic technique known as “ambrotype,” a technique that Yamamoto has recently been working on. Also known as wet-plate photography, ambrotypes are characterized by the appearance of negative images as positives when viewed against a black background. This portfolio features three delicate works depicting birds and plants, a flower and driftwood, recreating the unique texture of beautiful, detailed glass negatives. The handmade case contains a sheet stamped with the artist’s signature.
